Cheese Straws
Cheese straws were served at President Ronald Reagan’s inaugural luncheon. We’ve improved upon the recipe a touch to make them even…
cheesier!
1 lb. sharp cheddar cheese
1 2/3 c flour
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp salt
7 tbsp softened butter
Grate cheese into large bowl. Add butter, mix. Add salt and cayenne pepper. Work in flour with fingers. Add 1-2 tsp water if needed to hold dough together.
Roll dough until 1/4 inch thick. Cut into sticks about 3/4 inch wide and four inches long, or any shape of your choice. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes depending on oven.
Let cool 10 minutes before serving. Excellent with any meal or alone. Enjoy these delicious treats!
